Winner of ASID Product Design Award for Iron and Glass Door

SLIDE 1 While needing to identify the parent company, Global Organics, Debra used those initials as a prominent feature in the design of this 2007 ASID award-winning iron and glass door. The iron and glass provide a feeling of strength and security while the vines and leaves reflect the organic essence of the company. The glass on the door may be opened separately from the iron for easy cleaning.

SLIDE 2 While upgrading an old manufacturing plant into an upscale place of business for this client's international clientele, Debra May Himes added slate, warm woods and colorful Venetian plaster which reflects the client's personality and corporate color palette.

SLIDE 3 This welcoming reception desk, designed by Debra, is ADA compliant and composed of a black walnut base which supports the aqua brushed metal laminate body of the reception desk. The desk is crowned with a shattered glass top which is secured and elevated by brushed aluminum pegs.

SLIDE 4 This angular-shaped end table is composed of black walnut and cherry woods, contrasting the brushed aluminum pegs that support the glass top. The fun angular shape of the piece adds that touch of charm with an attention to detail.

SLIDE 5 Old acoustical ceiling tiles were replaced with hard, plastered lids and recessed lighting. Office entrances and dimensions were redesigned and new space allocated according to the client's office and meeting room requirements. All desks, tables, a display cabinet, podium, guest bath cabinets, and reception desk were designed by Debra for this client.

SLIDE 6 Designed by Debra for Global Organics, the black walnut and cherry base of this storage credenza is crowned with a shattered glass top. Hand-crafted, brushed aluminum handles are surrounded by inlays of black walnut. The black walnut base on this credenza is designed to create the feeling of air and light being allowed to float through and around the base of the credenza while providing an interesting play of heavy materials being supported by lighter ones.

SLIDE 7 The natural, warm materials carry through to the rennovated women's restroom.

SLIDE 8 This stunning black walnut and cherry desk and credenza are designed for function and to create a "wow" factor for that special office. Brushed aluminum pegs add texture and sparkle to the design, while the warmth of the woods used creates that feeling of comfort and strength. The solid black walnut base allows air and light to float under and around these pieces allowing an interesting play of heavy materials being supported by lighter ones.

SLIDE 9 Managing partner's desk was designed to compliment the founder's desk.

SLIDE 10 Upper management desks follow the same sleek lines seen in the executive pieces.
