The builder for this high-end award winning model home asked for this home to manifest good quality, interesting design, and a sophisticated global taste palette in order to reflect Arizona's many contrasting elements and its casual elegance.
Debra May Himes chose a design scheme with a slight Japanese influence to reflect the sophistication level of potential clients and opportunities for design. The design elements and materials selected reflect the environment of the Arizona desert, while the ruggedness of the slate contrasts with the elegance of the Black Galaxy Granite, the fabrics, the faux finishes, and the Venetian Plaster to create interest and warmth.
Debra designed many of the interior architectural details of the home as well as the award winning amoire, master bedroom furniture, award winning wine room door, living room end tables, powder bath pedestal, and the kitchen hood above the range. Debra also contributed to the design of the decorative lighting fixtures and all of the iron and glass doors. Her cabinetry design theme was carried throughout the model in the study, kitchen, family room and baths. A slate wall of nine lighted niches was designed by Debra to act as a focal point from the entry for the living room and dining room. She designed all the tile work including the entry foyer. The red, gold, and green color pallete emphasized the oriental theme of the model while bringing texture, drama and a feeling of warmth to the home.
